MOVE PEOPLE

Leaders are required to overcome inertia while moving people toward a clear objective. Unless leaders continually communicate their organization's direction, focus and worth; the best ideas in the world will underachieve.

Overflow Communications is all about helping leaders communicate with clarity, creativity and consistency on the way to a stronger bottom line.

Case Study #4: Ownership

It's not unusual for employees to fall into a renter's mentality, in which a lack of ownership can lead to diminished effort, inattention to detail and diminished customer/patient/client satisfaction. In this project we helped our client encourage their employees to see the hospital as "our house."

Using the hospital's recognizable southern elevation as our guide, we created a childlike portrayal of a house in the graphic identity.

We opened the employee rally with a video of a potential hire discovering that everyone in the hospital was enthusiastic about their house:

Then, after the CEO welcome, we presented recognizable employees sharing their personal opinion about what makes their hospital their house:

We followed that with a training video using the This Old House motif to discuss the realities of the employee satisfaction survey.

Finally, we brought it back to the right perspective's impact on individual patient care with a conversation with a stroke victim whose life was saved by the team.

Case Study #3: Employee Satisfaction

Our hospital client's employee satisfaction survey coincided with the frenzy of the 2008 presidential race. With the desired end result of employees checking the option "very satisfied" on their survey, we collaborated with their team to create a full-blown political campaign for darkhorse candidate, Barry Satisfied.

With the help of a willing CEO, we used the political campaign motif, starting with an intentionally amateurish "Man from Hope" style bio video...

We continued with a piece that used the search for a VP candidate as the premise to encourage the practice of peer evaluations during the hiring process.

We also decorated the meeting room with campaign paraphernalia, including these campaign signs:

Due to his passion for his employees, patients and overall results, the CEO was willing to take some creative risks that really paid off.

As a result, employee satisfaction scores jumped double digits and the hospital ascended into the upper tier of peer hospitals across the country.

Case Study #2: Elevate

In any organization, even high performers can hit a ceiling of motivation, effort and enthusiasm. In this employee forum, we helped our client encourage their employees to take their game up to yet another level. The call to action? Elevate.

We also set a humorous tone with an introductory video using recognizable employees in a "pre-flight checklist" scenario, to show the importance of every part of the hospital team.

Then, to demonstrate awareness that every human has "crossroads" moments repeatedly throughout the day, we showed the decision making process even a high performer goes through when asked to do more for a patient/customer/client.

Finally, to bring it home to the fact that the patient in the bed is not a number or collection of symptoms, we shared the story of a patient whose challenging medical conditions were made better by employees who went the extra mile.

Case Study #1: The Calling

As a way to improve the quality of care, a hospital engaged our services to help reconnect their employees with their passion for healing. In a rally event we branded as The Calling, we produced a promotional video, a message from the CEO and a training video, all delivered by hospital executives with Power Point video support.

Move People

Leaders are about overcoming inertia, identifying a clear objective, then moving people in that direction. Great technology, innovative products and superior procedures are all essential to success, but they aren't worth much in a vacuum. Leaders must continually communicate their organization's direction, focus and worth to their employees, vendors and customers or the best ideas in the world will underachieve.
Overflow Communications is all about helping leaders communicate with clarity and creativity, leading to a stronger bottom line.
